Preliminary Study of Recycled Aggregate Mortar for Electric Arc Furnace Dust Encapsulation

چکیده
This article shows the preliminary results of a study carried out to determine technical feasibility encapsulating high percentage EAFD in cement-based mortars manufactured with fine fraction recycled concrete aggregates (RCA). Two families mortars, natural aggregate as reference and RCA, were studied. An incorporation rate by weight two parts mortar one part was tested. The mechanical strengths (compressive strength tensile strength) before after immersion water, delitescence leaching behavior Mortars made RCA showed similar aggregates; however, decreased strengths. Encapsulation considerably reduced heavy metals, although Pb concentration remained above hazardous waste limit. With this study, wastes are managed together, have shown that use instead is viable alternative since it does not significantly impair or properties matrices used encapsulate EAFD.

Electric Arc Furnace Slag and Blast Furnace Dust, Use for the Manufacture of Asphalt Concrete for Roads
This paper analyzes how feasible it is to use electric arc furnace slag as coarse aggregate, and blast furnace dust as fine aggregate in the manufacture of hot asphalt concrete for roads. Three mixtures were designed using the Ramcodes methodology, the M1 mixture of control with conventional materials, the M2 mixture replacing 50% and the M3 mixture replacing 100% of the conventional aggregates...
متن کاملA KINETIC STUDY ON THE CARBOTHERMIC REDUCTION OF ZINC OXIDE FROM ELECTRIC ARC FURNACE DUST
In the present study, reduction of zinc oxide from the pellets made of steelmaking electric arc furnace dust has been investigated. Effects of such parameters as the type of carbon material (graphite, coke and charcoal) as well as time and temperature on the reduction reaction have been examined. The reduced (dimensionless) time method was applied to perform a kinetic analysis of the system. Ex...
متن کاملPotential Reuse of Electric-Arc Furnace Dust (EAFD) in Concrete
This study investigated electric arc furnace dust (EAFD) reuse as a raw material in concrete mixes. A comprehensive experimental program consisting of two phases of testing was carried out. The first phase included the replacement of ordinary Portland (Type I) cement by unsieved dust with the percentages of 0, 2.5, 5, 7.5 and 10%. The second phase included the replacement of quartz (filler) by ...
متن کاملInvestigation of Possible Usage of Electric Arc Furnace Dust in Cement Industry
Synopsis-In this research, possible usage of EAF dust on cement is investigated. Therefore, effects of addition of different percentages of EAF dust on the most important properties of cement such as hydration heat, water coefficient, viscosity, initial and final setting times, strength development and leachability of heavy metals were studied. Results showed that EAF dust alters the characteri...
متن کاملVitrification of electric arc furnace dusts.
Electric arc furnace baghouse dust (EAFD), a waste by-product of the steelmaking process, contains the elements that are volatilized from the charge during the melting (Cr, Pb, Zn, Cu and Cd). The results of leaching tests show that the concentration of these elements exceeds the regulatory limits. Consequently, EAFD cannot be disposed of in ordinary landfill sites without stabilization of the ...
